Hexcel Exhibiting for First Time at Rapid+TCT

STAMFORD, Conn. – This marks the first year that Hexcel has exhibited at the Rapid+TCT additive manufacturing exhibition, being held May 21-23 in Detroit, MI. One of Hexcel’s newest advanced composite material technologies, HexAM™ additive manufacturing, will be the focal point in Hexcel’s booth (#220).

HexAM™ additive manufacturing technology combines high performance PEKK thermoplastics with carbon fiber to produce flight-ready 3D printed HexPEKK™ parts using selective laser sintering (SLS) technology. Hexcel acquired this technology from Oxford Performance Materials in December 2017. HexPEKK™ components offer significant weight, cost and time-to-market reductions, replacing incumbent cast or machined metallic parts while providing repeatable and validated engineering material properties in highly demanding aerospace, satellite and defense applications.

HexPEKK™ parts are chemically resistant and low-outgassing, have a wide temperature performance range, qualified from -300˚F to +300˚F with unparalleled material properties, and are already used in crewed space, satellite, military aviation, and defense applications. Hexcel’s HexAM™ additive manufacturing combines the flexibility of select laser sintering technology with an engineering-grade material 50% lighter than aluminum.
